I totally agree with you. I started learning German with Duolingo some years ago, but couldn't continue because i had no idea why i wanted to continue learning. Now, i mostly use Microsoft Copilot for my German class now. I haven't used it for practicing Speaking yet, but for practicing Writing, it's fantastic.

Oh wow, I've never heard of Microsoft Copilot, thanks for sharing. Do you learn German by yourself? I'm A2 in German now so good luck to us :)

I will offer a counter point - as someone who already had learned and spoke spanish as a second language, learning italian via duolingo for a few months before a trip allowed me to communicate very effectively when I was in italy.

I think it often depends on your prior experience with similar languages, and language learning techniques.

Thank you for your comment, Sam; you are right. My teaching experience is mainly based on Polish people who don't speak any Romance language, and that's who I was referring to. I should have put it in writing in a more specific way. if you speak Spanish, I agree you can easily learn even to communicate using Duolingo. It would be like a Polish person learning another Slavic language.

I learn French with Duolingo, and yeah, I couldn't communicate in sentences with people, but I knew basic introductory sentences, which I'd use with my travel friends.

As I for me learning German was all about fun, embracing a new language, and learning something new, I stick with it regardless. I’ve been recommended few YouTube tutors instead of Duolingo lately. Also, i loovee their UX, which is another factor in my platform choice.

Thanks for sharing, Duolingo is great for keeping the everyday steak. Do you like their UX as compared to other apps?

Great to hear that. No, you're more proficient than me (I'm A2.1).

Grazie mille Andrzej!

You're welcome (I wasn't much familiar with copilot either, one of my aunts introduced that to me). No, i'm not learning German by myself, i'm going to a class which teaches German from A1 to B2 (I've just started A2). Are you like me or are you more proficient than me?

I'm going to a class too! I've just started A2.2 - so the second part of A2. It's my third attempt to this level, hopefully the last one :) So we are the same level I think :)
